Steel, bath mats and towels, and copper wire.
Portuguese 'azulejos,' characterized by its striking blue color and visual narratives, are also defined as image documents of history. By appropriating this architecture language in the form of a quilt, the aestheticized Western religious tales in colonialism are distorted. The metal 'tiles' only relying on the original form are then stitched to blue bath mats and towels. By forcefully rusting them, the blocks eat away the textiles in a continuous corrosion process. 'Document of mercy' challenges narratives perpetuated by architectural ornamentations and materializes their impact.
